Marguerite De Santis was born in Manhattan and grew up on Long Island. She has a MA Degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook.
When she became a Realtor in 1988, she was a traditional agent. In 1994, Berkshire Hearth Realty became an Exclusive Buyer Brokerage Office. (This means she gave up all her listings and never worked for Sellers again).
She trained with the Massachusetts Association of Buyer Agents, known as MABA, and is also a member of the Berkshire Board of Realtors, Berkshire Multiple Listing Service, and the Columbia-Northern Dutchess MLS, in New York State, as well.
Many ask…“Why did you become an Exclusive Buyer Broker?”
Marguerite answers…“In working in real estate, very often, I got very friendly with my Buyers. I was checking on their houses, walking their dogs, and they were naming their first born after me. When I was a traditional broker it never made sense to me that I was working for a Seller. I often did not know the Seller, and didn’t meet the Seller until the closing. After working with MABA, I decided to throw my lot in with Buyers and I have never regretted that decision.”
Marguerite is a State Certified Mediator. She has transferred these skills from mediation to the negotiating table in working with all the local Sellers and other Brokers to get the Buyer the best property, at the lowest price, with the fewest problems.
Marguerite has had two children who attended the Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School and her daughter went to Bard at Simon’s Rock College. Marguerite has been involved in volunteer work since her Long Island days, and is an active member of Berkshire Citizens for Peace and Justice, currently working in all the local high schools. She is a certified AVP Trainer. (Alternatives to Violence Project).
She enjoys working with Buyers whether they are purchasing their first home, a repeat investment property, a farm or a piece of land. Let her show you how she can save you time and money.
